The Schitzle Connection

"The Schitzle Connection" is a wacky tale about Mrs. Nadine Schitzle of Tarzana, California. She wakes up one morning to find a sloth hanging from a eucalyptus tree in her backyard, and she's convinced the mammal is her husband, Herman!

Originally written as a review sketch and published as a short story August 5, 1988.  "The Schitzle Connection" won first prize in an Oklahoma City Writers' Short Story Contest and placed 17th out of 100 stories chosen from thousands of entries in a Writer's Digest S.S. Contest.

Cy and his wife, Jane Manning, later developed Nadine's story into the play, The Sloth (1991), which is performed worldwide, and finally into the book Herman.
